Good days tend to produce better days. This past week, I was on tour playing sold out rooms in the Midwest with Safetysuit and Parachute. I'm left with a sincere feeling of optimism.
Columbus, Ohio opened my eyes. We played at a club called The Basement, which could not have been branded more fittingly for a packed crowd of 400+. I learned one thing from my short stay there. Columbus, you are dirty. Actually, I learned two things. Columbus, you are dirty, but you have a great pizza joint (Hound Dogs).
Minneapolis made my stomach hurt. It may be my mind working against me but, ever since learning about the perils of processed or preserved food, my head starts aching and my stomach starts trembling when consuming such food. McDonald's for lunch, Taco Bell for dinner. Whoops. Albeit, I had a great time performing.
Chicago was a homecoming. There was something special playing for a sold out crowd in a city I just came from. I imagine it will be even more special if we get the opportunity to play a similar show in Milwaukee. Even still, this will be one of those that gets chalked up as a memory for a lifetime. Subterranean isn't the prettiest of venues, doesn't have the best sound, and is light years from holding its own against my favorite venue, The Pabst Theatre, but I would not have rather been anywhere else that night.
